Santo Amaro da Barra Grande Fortress, the main defensive holding on the Paulista coast for more than a century, no longer puts fear into invaders through the boom of its canons. However, for the last five centuries it has stood there waiting to receive the ships that must cross the waters just a few meters from its strong walls in order to dock in Santos Port. Forgotten, abandoned, almost lost, it has risen from its ashes to show off its military architecture, painted white to reflect the sun's rays at dusk. |
