Santo
Amaro da Barra Grande Fortress is situated on a rocky
stretch of land covered by tropical Atlantic Forest which
is projected along the canal that leads into Santos Port.
The formidable strategic position was perfect for a naval
blockage, so it was occupied after the glorious military action
fought against Edward Fenton´s English ships in 1583
by André Higino, a member of Valdez's fleet.
